Sunset High School is known as a "school of excellence." It is noted for its academic climate, offering a comprehensive array of advanced classes in all subject areas as well as a variety of dual credit courses in several academic areas.

In the 2013-2014 school year, Sunset began offering an Honors Diploma in addition to our International Baccalaureate and Standard diplomas. Our first Honors Diploma graduating class was the class of 2015 and 89 Honor Diplomas were granted. For the class of 2018 there were 80 Honor Diplomas granted.

Sunset High School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The IB program offers a rigorous academic curriculum for motivated and ambitious students. The graduating class of 2003 was the first group of students with the opportunity to earn the Full International Baccalaureate Diploma. 

2018 was the first year that Sunset HIgh School graduated students from the AVID program.
